In 2007, Schools of Distinction has undergone a transformation focusing on two subject areas which are key to our nation's future—math and science. We will now focus on identifying schools with learning environments that promote 21st century learning skills, such as digital literacy, problem solving, critical thinking and collaboration as a benchmark for academic excellence in mathematic and scientific achievement.

Joe's Tip of the Day...
Check out Premier's Funding Guide

Based on the national average, states contribute 48.2% of the funds, local sources contribute 41.7%, federal dollars constitute 7.1%, and 2.5% of the funds come from private sources. To view the percentage of Federal, state and local contributions in your state visit the National Center for Educational Statistics at:http://nces.ed.gov/programs/quarterly/vol_7/1_2/4_14_tables1.asp#tab_1

This Premier Funding Directory offers basic information about the school funding process.  Three levels of government sources contribute revenue to public schools: federal, state and local. In addition, private foundations, corporations and individuals also make contributions to schools.  Some good stuff you can use.

Best wishes.
